Default 968 M030 rear shock?

Has anyone bought the and fit the 968 M030 rear Koni shock with the helper spring? The PN is 944-333-032-03 and is still supplied by Porsche.

Iwas thinking they had to be purchased seperately as the price would be way to good for it to priced as an assembly.

Is it possible to convert a standard Koni rear shock to accept the 968 MO30 helper spring?

PET shows:

951 333 531 31 'Additional Spring 1 SET marked'
944 333 526 01 'Concave washer' X 2

Based on the diagram in PET it looks like you would have to weld an additional concave washer onto the shock body to serve as the lower spring perch.

Anyone done this?

I didn't buy them or install them, but my 968 has the m030 rear coilovers and the car is a BLAST to drive in the corners!!! Throttle steer heaven...

you probably could convert them but you would have to weld a collar on the bottom of the standard shock where the spring sits.

and also they are valved heavier

Interesting point on the shock valving, although if I went with a stiffer torsion bar instead I likely wouldn't change the shock valving so don't know that the helper spring changes that.

I'm going to price the necessary parts from Sunset today and I'll post what I find.

Similar.

paragon also sells them for aboput $800. Since the items from Porsche and Paragon are yellow, is there a difference in the valving? I think both yellow units come with the 85lb spring (stiffer springs are availalbe from Paragon) which is the same a s the Red from Black Forest. Perhaps the valving is the difference.

You may also wish to consider the QA1 externally adjustable rear coilovers from KLA. Priced about $400-ish for a pair. I wonder though how these have been holding up over the long-term.

If you're referring to Paragon's rear coilovers for $895, they are not the same as the Black Forest ones. The Black Forest items appear to be Koni sport shocks (internally adjustable) converted to coilover. The Paragon Konis are externally (****) adjustable and were manufactured as coilovers.

The KLA parts are sold seperately so it's $560 if you don't want the inversion kit or helper spring.

I, too, don't know how well they hold up.
