All,
Sort of a poll...a general question for all the owners of the 924/931/944/951/968 lineage:
1. What parts are the hardest to find?
2. If there was any part that you needed but could not find, or if there was a part that you found but was junk, what would it be?
3. Also, are there any other 944 owners in my area? It would be fun to have someone else nearby to help each other out in repairs.

Jon,
There is a pretty active group of 944 people in Orange County. PM me and hopefully we can do a get-together soon! The ringleader is still in the process of moving and a lot of us have been busy lately so we're due for a hangout soon I think.
No idea on the parts, though.

Working a/c
Non-leaking p/s racks
LSD trans
Techquipment-wise I'd say an original 944 roof rack (I'd love to find one)
Aftermarket there are tons including Saratoga roofs, roll-bars, etc.

951/S2 fog light housings get my vote. They are rare as hens teeth, delicate, wildly expensive, and everybody's are damaged (or will be after you try to remove the rusty screws the first time). A simple replacement for $100 or less would be a huge seller.
patrat -- Sears hardware aisles have a black replacement that is very similar. Look for the nuts and bolts drawers and then for the misc. auto clips drawer.

My vote for hard to find
- replacement M030 spindles (aftermarket M030 hubs already out there)
Super hard
- '90 951/'91 S2 rear hatch

Air bag parts are very difficult to duplicate.
That said, I wonder if the computers from another car would work in the 944/951/968?....
I heard that all airbags are the same inside, so they should be interchangeable. The only thing to consider would perhaps be the fuel/ignition cut-out, and the interoperability of that function in other vehicles. That is, whether ford or chrysler or mercedes use the same system.
My 951 I think needs an airbag computer. I don't think it's the bag itself.
Replacement parts.... affordable MAF solution would be nice.
The plastic interior clips are difficult to find in matching patterns/shapes, but I have had some success with universal ones.
