Question PCV system Early 944/1

i have a mechanic looking into this. Porsche cant even get it straight. I have an 83 944/1. The lower crank seal keeps pushing out. All the front seal, rollers, belts, waterpump, guides etc in the front end are new and only 2 weeks old. I am on the third new crank seal. The only thing i can figure is that there is a clog or bad valve in the PCV system. I can not find any info on the PCV system. Not in haynes, not from porsche, but i can see the hoses under the intake and i believe i have tracked down the PCV valve. Does any one know where i can get a schemmatic or any info the PCV system?

Two sizes of seals and sleeves. Which did you put in? The pressure behind the seal is oil not crank case.

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts
and/or cam chain and tensioner?

The front crank seal comes in two external diameters 52mm or 55mm. OD is determined by either measuring or engine number. Better to measure.

Here are the engine numbers for the 52mm OD seal:
M 43E 14859 >> and M 43E 21784 >>.

For the 55mm OD seal:
M >> 43E 14858 and M >> 43E 21783.

Replace the oil pump and your problem will be solved.

55mm seal has been installed 3 times. i have the cap loose on the oil filler tube right now and it hasnt pushed the last seal out as bad as the others.

Not good. Do the compression tests. Cranking and leak down. The large hose that comes off of the top of the oil filler vents into the side or bottom of the intake plenum. Can't recall what operates the valve. Possibly a combination of vacuum and direct engine temp. Will have to check.

This may not even matter, but what kind of oil are you using? Maybe you can try something lighter, or even try synthetic? Do the seals pop out immediately, or after idling, or driving? Also, if it happens while the car is on, what kind of oil pressure readings are you getting?

Except, of course, for the fact that a new oil pump is ~$700.00.

May have to "stake" the seal in. Go around the outside of the seal bore with a small pointed punch making dimples. This will expand the aluminum a hair and maybe keep the seal from backing out.

Here's my thought about that: It may work, but there's obviously some kind of problem somewhere that's causing the seal to pop out. Just wedging it in there may get it to stay, but you haven't solved the initial problem, which could get worse (whatever it is). It may be better to figure out what's actually going on rather than put a bandaid on the thing.

-Just a thought
