Default Help... NEED 951 PORSCHE CUP SUSPENSION PART

HELP..NEED 951 PORSCHE CUP SUSPENSION PART

In 1989 and 1990 Porsche ran the Rothman's Cup series for the 951 S. They used an upgraded suspension with progressive springs and Bilstein Porsche cup struts.

Because the spring was progressive it was 3.5 inches at the bottom and required a larger base than the one that comes with the Bilstein. Porsche made a part "the threaded adjusting nut" to address this problem.

I need one of these threaded adjusting collars. Does anyone know of any out there????????????????

The threaded adjusting collars can be found on any Turbo S (or M030 S2/968).

Why do you NEED that particular item? Paragon products makes nice aftermarket alternative, but it's not for the 3.5 in diameter springs.

The M030 threaded collars are for Koni struts, which are a larger diameter than the bilstein turbo cup struts. They will not work on them.

There are two different factory part numbers for the lower perch for the bilstein and for the koni. The koni part was used on the US Escort and S2 Club Sports and is the same as the M030 part. The bilstein lower perch is unique to the Turbo Cups and is not going to be available through a dealer.

If you have turbo cup springs and bilstein turbo cup struts, you need this part.

Part number should be 951 343 525 33, but often the casting number imprinted on the part does not match the factory stocking/part number.

odd Job,

Your listing of the part number is correct (951 343 525 33) and usually the last digit is hand engraved.

Any idea where to locate the base plate and lock ring?????????????????

Sorry I dont know of any spares available - I just know of one local set of bilstein turbo cup suspension setup with the factory cup springs, and its in use on a car.

And I use my turbo cup springs on koni shocks, so I can get away with the M030 threaded collars, lower perches and jam nuts.

Unfornately the factory cup parts are few and far between these days, so Im thinking you will need some luck and good fortune finding them.

You may want to do some searching up in Canada (since the Canadian Turbo Cups used the bilstein suspension), or try to have Porsche Motorsport North America contact Porsche Motorsport in Germany and see if they have anything left on a shelf in a back closet....

I have a set of unused Bilstein Cup (Green in colour) with progressive springs

part numbers on the components:

progressive springs - 951 462 111 (with a strange 'anchor' symbol between the '2' & '1')
lower spring plate - 951 343 525 32 (which i believe is an M030 part as well, also have 951 343 525 33 in some notes about this suspension)
Strut body - 951 343 032 35 / 951 343 031 35
