I really appreciate all of the kind compliments. I really do. However, I really do not have any money to do the repair. When the 1st comes, and I don't have rent money, the last thing I need to do is put money in the car. I wish I had an alternative.

Without repairing the clutch, I find it hard to believe it will fetch the money you are asking for....

What do you mean by "the clutch went out"? Was it in "limp home" mode for awhile and finally gave up, or did it suddenly stop working? Or is it now in "limp home" mode?

Honestly, if you want top dollar, adverting it here is not going to get it for you. People on Renn are always looking for a "Renn-deal" as you know and expect things for dirt cheap. Most are DIYers that could replace the clutch themselves, but will expect $1500-$2000 knocked off the Bruce Anderson Value, even more if it needs to be flatbedded acrossed the country.

You would probably get more with a good detailed listing on ebay with some great pics.

Sorry to see that you have to sell, that looks like a great car.

Limped home. Barely made it. Now it won't go into gear, if the engine is running.

Default Information on my car. Sorry so long.

A lot of people have asked about what I've done to the car. Here it is:
FOR SALE 1987 Porsche 924S
Over $4,000.00 spent on new suspension, engine work, and various parts.
Guards Red
Black Porsche cloth interior
5 speed
NO sunroof
NO rear wiper
Air conditioning, blows cold
Power windows
Power steering
100,900 original miles (that's only 5,311 miles per year!)
New tires, 6/10/2004 @ 94,820 miles
Continental Sport Contact 2, 205/55/WR16. VERY nice tires!

I have owned this car since Christmas, 1996. When I bought it there were 78,191 miles on it. It has the factory installed 16" flat forged Fuchs wheels, with hand painted center crests. It also has a 22mm front anti-sway bar and a 14mm rear anti-sway bar. It has the optional turbo flares behind the rear wheels. These are very rare on a 924S. I have only seen a few of them with the flares. I also have an extra set of flares. This car does not have the sunroof, so it doesn't have the extra parts to break. A lot of people prefer the non-sunroof cars for track use. Also, no heavy rear wiper. I have done a LOT of things to this car.

The majority of the work was done at Tom Charlesworth's repair shop, Charlesworth Incorporated, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. For those that don't know, Tom is the Porsche Club of America's Chairman of the Technical Committee, so he really knows these cars. I have receipts for all of the work that I have had done to the car. Before that, I have no receipts. Of course, that's 9 years of receipts!

I am not sure about Las Vegas but here in L. A., a 924S needing a clutch goes for $500-$750. If you get the clutch fixed, you will probably get what you are looking for. If you add up the costs, someone who does not know how to do a clutch will have to spend $1200 to $1500 for the clutch on top of the $3200, which comes out to a pretty expensive 924S.

I think it's still a tough time to sell a car, particularly a fun car. People are just getting their credit card bills from the Holidays. As for the price, I cannot say. Probably at least $1500-$2000 less than it would sell for if it were driveable? Remember, if you cannot drive it you cannot tell how well it drives, test the engine/trans under load, etc. Lots of unknowns.

Good luck!

*Drools* you could always hire a rennilster to replace the clutch and give him a chunk of the final price... Id bite, but the problem is is I have a 924 that I put 5g's into that looks like HELL! GL selling it and GL with your hard times, sounds like it will be for the better.

If you get the clutch fixed you will really reconsider your thought on sale. IT IS NOT THAT HARD TO DO A CLUTCH.

Hey Stig, the only thing that you failed to mention in your last post was when you will be here with your tools and lift to help me do the job. I'll supply the beer!

And, to Legoland951, if you look closely at the price, there are 3 little words that follow. or best offer.
I put the wish price, now people are welcome to make offers.

Of course, I understand that selling it with the clutch replaced would be the ideal situation. I know a LOT about these cars, and most other cars. I have been a Porsche fanatic since the late 1960's. I am not a newby to these cars. I have had 2 911's and a 914. I am a PCA member and a member of the Mercedes-Benz Club of America.
I know that all of you are just trying to offer helpful solutions to my problem. If I saw someone on the site with my situation, I would try to encourage them to repair and keep the car. No one should be forced to sell a car they love. But, being middle-aged with a family that you are the sole support of, it's tough. And, even if the car was running fine, I would probably sell it. The back seat is a little too small for my kid, and it is not the best car from which to sell real estate.
I know! Let's start a telethon! Everyone can donate to the cause! :0

If you have the time to replce the clutch, I have a rubber center disk in good condition I can give you in you are in the area. That way you can sell the car on ebay as a running vehicle without having to spend the money for parts.
