Interesting 924 CGTS Facts
I aquired a factory Carrera GTS brochure recently, and there are a few interesting facts I thought were worth sharing.
From the spec part of the brochure:
A couple things:
Notice the price of the basic GTS compared to the 930 of the same era. The GTS is 110K DM, while the 930 is 92.8K DM. The GTS ClubSport is 12K DM more than the standard GTS.
Also, there has always been some mis-information floating around about what size wheels came on the GTS cars from the factory. You'll notice that the standard GTS got 7/8 16" Fuchs with 205's in the front and 225's in the rear, while the GTS ClubSport got 8's all round with 225's.
If you can read German, you'll also notice the specs on the GTS that is homologated for Gruppe B. There is a homologated GTS ClubSport in a collection near me that is spec'd out like the bottom of the sheet. These cars came with 9X16 rear Fuchs.
One interesting thing to note is that all of the literature I have read claims that the hood on the GTS ClubSport is aluminum. But the one that is near me has never been altered or molested from stock, and it has a fiberglass hood.

Here's a shot of the CGTS CS engine bay. Note the aluminum overflow tank (painted black).

If you are ever in Northern California and want to see some of the factory 924 race cars, check out Jerry Woods Enterprises/SmartCamber Racing. They have some neat products to sell, do great engine and development work, and usually there are several 924 cars around. Like GTR and GTP. These are cool cars and of course very rare.

Cool post...the 924 CGT/CGTCS is one of the most interesting cars Porsche has ever built (IMHO).
I think they are absolutely beautiful, too. Love the flares!

GTS CS and GTR are extremely rare, plus extremely capable GTR (375hp, 2.0l) is the most powerful front-engined stock-Porsche IIRC, even 968 Turbo RS had less power (350).
