I say run it until it dies as well. Speaking of this, is Wade still on his original clutch in the n/a?

Yep Tyler, I am....but I've got the car down for a few things right now, and I think I am starting to chicken out. Since I put a lot of miles on my cars, I depend on them to get me where I want to go, and they haven't let me down, I think mostly because I have maintained them well. So, though it might be cool to see how long I can actually go, I think I'm gonna' put in a new clutch and just enshrine the old clutch disc in a lucite case or something.

So my car is "stalled" at around 280K right now. So Andy is smokin' me in mileage.

Andy, rebuild the existing motor and shoot for 500k.

Do you want to borrow my SIR wheel bearing tool? It really makes the job a piece of cake. It's part of the SOW tool loaner program.

Andy, after riding in that car, there is no reason to swap the engines. It still had good oil pressure, and sounded really good. I would do the belts, seals, and water pump, and let it go. I've got my money on 500K. Just keep making trips, and it will be there before you know it!!!

Back in 2001 I saw an 83 from California that had supposedly 441k on the orignal and untouched engine and tranny.

Shoot for the numbers. I say it'll make 500k- I'd love to see 360k on it by this summer

I'm getting a loaner tool tonigh from the "my buddy works at the dealer" program, lol. Thanks for the offer tho Jeremy. I was going to make a press to do them on the car very soon, but Tammy's Audi needs one like right now, mine it still runable. I'll still make one, just need to do these a little sooner than I wanted to.

I'll do the work needed probably next week and slowly do the 88 motor on the stand. The whole top end has been done and was ready to flip it and do bearings and pan gasket when I bought the 951 motor. The 88 NA was going into the 954 at that time and was about 90% ready.

There's a local guy I see at auto-Xs, he says to me, "I had one of these, there's a guy I know that has 500K on one." I said, "yeah, this one only has 320K on it" as he drops the flag and I take off on my run. LOL.
