What motor oil do you use?

I just switched my car over to Red Line 10w30. I had started to run Mobile 1 10w-30, but I would get a little bit of lifter noise on COLD mornings. Now that I switched to Red Line, everything is totally silent, and I still have great oil pressure (quick on startup too). It has been in there for 800 miles and it has not used a drop. I plan to go to a heavier oil when ambient temps go up again.

Mobil1 10w30 all year round. in the 1 year+ I've had it, I have only had to put one quart of oil in it between changes once. And it doesn't drip any oil at all. This car has been really great to me

I guess I am both cheap and lazy. Wallmart Supertech 20-50 (less than $5 for the 5 qt. jug), every 3 to 4kw/ a Mahle filter every other change. Leaks a little, might burn a little, not really sure which. IMO these engines, if reasonably cared for will outlast the other systems on these cars. I'm at 110k now and I am pretty sure the engine has more left in it than I will use.

I put that Castrol GTX 20w50 in the car, had it in there for like a week, but it seemed like the car was a slow piece of crap with that oil in there.

In the warm months I always run 20w50. I either run Castrol no syn or Max Life or mobil. Currently I am running 10w40 with the cold months. I also have a quart of Lucas Oil in there. It starts hard when its cold and runs a little rough with it in there but I have noticed better oil pressure and easier warm running/ starting. I usually like to run 5 qts of oil and 1 qt of ATF 3+ in there. It has never let me down.

Royal Purple 10W30 or 20W50. I use RP in all my cars, except my beater which gets Kendall because that is what I have on tap

I think nine-44 might be on to something there, though who knows how it'll work over time...;-) I frequent the bobistheoilguy website (caution - very addictive) and Rotella is highly thought of there among the oil fanatics.
My car is track only (100+ track days), except for getting to and from the tracks. I've always (until recently) run 15-50 Valvoline syn blend when I can find it, 20-50 when I can't. I did the rod bearings maybe 75 track days ago, the old ones looked perfectly fine.
I think 50 wt is too heavy for the street, and now I think too heavy for cool track days (New England here). I've taken to running 15-40 in the spring and fall.
40 weight is plenty heavy for the street, probably too heavy in cool climes. Since much of the wear happens when the engine is cold, an oil that will circulate well when cold is essential. So, I think in general 10-40 for the street. I run M1 0-40 year round in my street car, twin turbo S4.

Thanks for the suggestions. I bought Havoline 10w40 for now... Next time I will use 15w40 Rotella. Mostly because we have gobs of it left from our days of the '82 Jetta Diesel.
FYI, my car no longer lubricates the valvetrain.... AT ALL. It takes about 15 seconds to reach 4 on the oil pressure gague, and the valvtrain does not cease to click. (Problem will be addressed on another thread: *frustration* oil leaks.)
