Default re-assembly of power steering rack - lube for rack and pinion

Well, after finally finding a nice tower to replace the one I damaged, I'm ready to put the power steering rack back together. I'm using the Rennbay kit.

Everything should go smooth, my question right now though, is: What is the right/best lubricant to use for the rack teeth, the pinion and the spring loaded pressure block? I.e. all the parts that are not normally bathed in a flow of power steering fluid?

The residue on these parts when I disassembled the rack almost looked like engine assembly lube?

Thanks for looking!

I thought those parts had ATF on them?... uh oh

I used wheel bearing grease on most parts of my rack upon reassembly. In particular, I used Redline CV-2.
No problems yet.

yep wheel bearing grease is the way to go. we do hundreds of rack overhauls and always use bearing gease. never had a problem
