I guess I'm the strange one bc I only use the lower flywheel mark - Its a pain to get an eyeball on it but it has never failed me. ;] Bruce

Doesn't matter. I recommend pulling all the spark plugs out first to make it easier to turn and control. With one or more of the plugs in it likes to "jump" too much.

I don't have the bottom mark either. With the cam tower off, you can just put the piston at TDC. There is no way to mess it up b/c the crank turns twice for every one turn of the cam. TDC is only different from the exhaust stroke once the belts are on.

Actually, good news: I'm freaking done!

I set TDC easily w/ looking at the piston itself, since the head was off. My OT line and balance sprocket marks agree with it, so I went ahead and put it back together... My car runs!!! No leaks, and with the new vacuum and fuel lines, plugs, and a top end free of carbon build up, it runs like a CHAMP! Oh man does it sound good too, now that I don't have an exhaust leak making my bad cat sound really loud. Thats on the to-do list too.

edit: I'll probably post another thread when I get home from work, with some details of the project, and pictures of my much nicer looking engine bay.

That is the case with me, since the local "Specialist" doesnt even have the f@cking manuals to follow, and you expect then to notice why there is a big OT mark on the flywheel itself, the PO spent over AED 5,000 (US$1,300+) on the clutch replacement and the 'Specialist' screws up.

I use a long screw driver, as Daniel does.
