Default Rod/Main bearings

I was searching up peoples oil pressure problems here on rennlist and over @ Pelican and it seems the oil pressure problem I was having before my clutch went out (oil pressure falls as car warms up etc) my bearings are shot. I never had any knocking or ticking or any signs of low oil pressure, but that is a possibility and the car needs the clutch/torque tube/oil cooler/some other misc. stuff done to it and I was also thinking it may be easier just to pull the motor and replace all that stuff while its out. Or maybe replace the motor. What do you guys think? Also -- if my bearings are dead, its typically the rod bearings right? Is it likely the crank will need to be machined from bearing damage if I didn't hear any signs of low oil pressure?

Thanks

the crank will need mic'ed to be certain. When I pulled my mototr for a freshen up the rod bearing in #2 was in bad shape. the crank checked out fine I had to have the rod re-sized as it was out of spec. I also have some good NA rods around as I have dissasembled 2 lately.

Mike, if you get a new[er] motor, I'd like your old one if it's not too far gone.

Thanks, keep in touch,

That's alright, it's your motor anyway. I'd probably find some go-kart to drop it in (my fantasy project...among others!) Or build it up slowly as a race motor...like I got that kind of time anyway. Just if you do want to let it go, that suckers mine! (Yes, you heard that right rennlist...I got "dibs")

Hey Ian, I have something that would be alot more appropriate for a go kart frame. A honda CB550 motorcycle engine. Motor and trans are very easy to adapt to a go kart and you have a rocket. Started to build the gokart but I dont have time anymore. I'll let it go CHEAP if your interested.
