I am on a road trip right now and have driven over 800 miles so far. I went from Chandler, AZ to Show Low, AZ. On the way up I took the 60 the whole way. Anyone here driven through the Salt River Canyon? Those are some fun twisties!!!
I went oup to visit my grandparents. They have 40 acres just outside of Show Low. Tuesday, i drove from Show Low back to Chandler. On the way back I had to take the 260 to the 87 back because there had been a wreck opn the 60 and it was closed. It was funny, some idiot in Payson was driving an Eclipse all riced out and was acting like he wanted to race me. I didn't really care, but i caught up with him on the switchbacks. He was riding his brakes the whole time,(all downhill). I jjust went the same pace i was going and passed him. I saw in my rear view he was trying to keep up, alas he could not. He finally caught up on flat land and I just got into the right lane to let him speed by. I also got a thumbs up from some guy too!
I refueled the car, caffeinated myself, then procedded to San Diego. Not as fun of a drive because it is mostly flat land. That and I missed the Maricopa exit so I had to drive an extra 31 miles south to get to the 8. It was a fun drive though. This morning i my cousin helped me wash my baby. He and my other cousin are all into bling and big rims, yet the still can appreciate the beauty of a stock car, a 20 year old stock car that is. Next on my list of places to go is Temecula nears eve, then Big Bear. If any Listers live out here and wanna get togetehr for a bit and talk cars, PM me and I'll give you a call. Happy Trails!

Sounds like you had good time. If your in the Temecula area, there is always Ortega Highway. That can be a lot of fun but sometimes dangerous because of the idiots that drive out there. To get a taste of Ortega Highway you can just take the 5 freeway up from SD and then take Ortega to the 15 which I think is just north of Temecula.

That Salt River Canyon drive is awesome! Watch out for the tribal police......
I went out to Globe a few months ago with the top out. That's a nice drive too.
I want to try SR 89 from Cottonwood/Jerome to Prescott.......

Salt River canyon is a nice drive, but often to much traffic to be any fun.
SR 89 from wickenburg to prescott is pretty nice too. Just take it easy on the hill just before Yarnell.
Cops like to hang out there looking for speeding bikers.

I just broke 1000 miles. I was plannng on going to big bear, but my friend told me there is a ot of snow and the roads are icy. If I go I am gonna need to pick up some chains. Anyone know dimensions for chains? I am running 15x7 with 205/60/r15 and the rears are 15x8 on 225/60/r15. Can I just pick them up at a parts store?
