Yep- a bad cap will cause the coolant to blow off like a tea kettle. The cap gets bad from constant pressure weakening the spring inside, and excess steam will escape the rivet at the cap center. A bum cap also causes the cooling fans to not operate, because the DME coolant sensor cannot input info on just hot air..as in air pocket. So, no WET temperature data=no auxillary fan operation=Achtung! light illuminating=super hot soaked car. Pull over, please.
