Default another question - about resurfacing flywheel

well, since i decided to change the clutch, im going to have the flywheel resurfaced for piece of mind (and its been hot a little bit, minor discoloration) BUT my question is do i need a shim after i resurface it?

i mean, they are only taking a few thousandths off, and i didnt think it was necessary, but other vehicles have had shims after having the flywheel resurfaced, but i never remember reading about someone using one in their 944/951.

thanks again in advance

i dunno, my dad thought it would need a shim, i gave him a "wtf" look and decided to ask... but i was assuming it would just go on between the block and flywheel :/ your response is enough to tell me i dont need one though. just double checking

Think twice before resurfacing the flywheel. After I had mine done (plus a complete clutch job), it developed vibrations around 3.1 krpm. I strongly believe it's due to messing up the balance of the flywheel. Recently another guy reported a similar problem after a clutch job, but there wasn't any comments, but mine. I don't know if it's an isolated problem, or people didn't want to comment for some reasons.

well, this is the condition. surface was very smooth though. i didnt have the flywheel resurfaced on my S-10 when i put one in form a junk yard, just freshened it with a surface blending disc and that was fine. but i figured with my car i would take more care. it probably doesnt need it, i just assumed it was something that should be done if im throwing in a new clutch
