If you use Bars the radiator is toast but it is a nice temp fix. It sounds like you have more than one problem (never good news with a new car). When all of your lights were on was the car on or was the key just in the acc position?

ive read the egg thing too.

similar things happened to me with my red/first S2. less than a week after i got it the clutch went. i had the dealers shop change all the fluids and whammo, the coolant hose is cut a day later. that started the milkshake coolant.....

good luck.

I put off replacing a leaking radiator in my chevy pickup for 7 years by using Barrs then broke down and fixed it when I had it out anyway for a new engine. However, I've never put the stuff in my Porsches. Just chicken I guess. In the Chevy it wasn't a big deal. In the Porsche it's $$$ if it doesn't work.

Bar's works very well. Chevrolet actually has their own factory approved sealant for radiators and HEADGASKETS!! They got tired of covering the HG on 3.1Ls I guess

Hey guys.. i got back in one piece. Pulled the car in the garage and then went to sleep. Drivin from on in the morning till 1 in the afternoon is not fun. Anyway, i want rent a cooling system pressure tester... seems simple enough. Do i have to lock the engine in TDC #1? I wouldn't think so since it's just the cooling system i'm pressurizing the coolant system. I also know not to exceed 1 Bar for that will provide me with many more leaks. I have to remove the air box.. and the timing belt cover so i can get down in there to see what's going on. When i'm doing to Pressure Test, if it's somehow the head gasket ( towards the cylinder) can i just pull the plugs and look for coolant?

I'm going to invest in a Coolant pressure tester

Just a heads up, a decent pressure tester with attachments is about 400 bucks. I have a very nice one You dont need to do anything, put the adapter on (which is probably going to be a non standard one, PM me if you need one) and pump it up. Look for the leak. A good pressure tester will also come with an attachment to test caps.
