Default Where is the Reference Sensor on a 944S?

I did a search, can't find much info about it.
Reason I ask is because I found an old thread where someone mentioned that their Reference Sensor on a 944S was causing their idle/stumble/stalling problems.

Can someone show me a visual reference as to where it is?

It's on top of the bell housing.

Find the black plug between the intake and firewall. Follow it down.

You may have to remove the intake manifold to replace it.

It is located at the same place as the 8 valve cars.

There is only 1 sensor on the 16v cars unlike 2 for the 8v's...

If you still need help I can post up some pictures since mine right now has what you call "Easy Access"

The ing. module is located behind the drivers side head light.

Have you checked the AFM? That's why my S does that.

Tod, that is the ingition control module, he is asking about the reference sensor.

The reference sensor can cause the stumbling you are talking about. Other causes are vacuum leaks, throttle position sensor and the idle stablizer valve.

Not sure that sensor will cause idle problems, Operator (cut-outs/stumbling, yes). If you want to go after it I think you will have to remove the intake manifold (as you may know, I was just there). You might consider running though the DME Diagnosis / Troubleshooting section in FSM.

Yeah, seems like the if the ref sensor was bad you would be having problems all the time.

awesome Fishey.. but how do you get to where that picture is taken? Clarks says its behind the engine on the clutch housing... how the heck does one get there?

Should I just have it checked/replaced when I get my clutch done (probably soon)?

You will need to remove the intake manifold.

I agree with the others, sounds more like the Air Flow Meter or a vacume leak.

No reason to remove manifold to get to the bolt.

My manifold is removed but its does not need to be removed to pull the sensor.

P.S. The yellow thing is the "oil fill cap" for referace!
