Sharp color combo you did there! I like the way you chose the color seperation points, very well integrated with the lines of the car.

The end result is very nice - good work.

You do realize you grinded away some of the galvanizing though, dontcha?

I don't think he cares. He lives in Phoenix. I won't care when I grind some away either.

Great job Joe. Thanks for sharing. Makes me feel a little more confident. If I could just get about a day in the shop (pretty impossible right now), I could start the paint prep.

Well I guess i did in afew spots. Not many however. l also I cant remember the last time it rained here. May be early November? Believe me rust is the least of my worries especially on the upper surfaces of the car.

Thank George, I took 3 days off the week of thanksgiving. Spent thanksgivng away from the car and the primered on Friday and Sunday.

I would not have gotten it done any other way and I did not want to leave the car around in bare metal just incase water fell from the ski. I heard about that happening once from an old Indian dude. Just my luck if I left it sanded for 3 weeks that would happen and then it might rust. So I had to get it sanded and primer on with minumum delay.

Yea, as long as you have good paint on it, it should be fine. . . I'm paranoid about such things though. I've seen (and owned) too many a New England rustbucket in my days. . . SoCal cars don't rust and STILL I'm paranoid! That's how much working on rust sucks.

Seriously I'd like to get at least 5 years out of this paint job. After the combination of sun and rock chips will probalby have taken their toll. Then it will be time to repeat this process all over again.

Nice job Joe! I was thinking - "why didn't he just paint the whole thing red first then paint the white section over it?" Oh well, you'll know next time.

So how do your parents like the red floor in their garage?

This all brings back the painful realization that I have a couple of cars that will be getting the same sort of work you just completed. One problem I have, that you don't - it gets cold and snows here.

How was the final finish? Any orange peel? Would you have been happy if it was a street car instead fo a race car? Anything you would have done differently?
