Default 944S for sale

I just bought a 95 M3 to turn into a track car, and I'm done with my 944. It's listed on the classifieds as well as PCA and 44cup websites; would not make a very nice daily driver, primarily a track car unless you can tolerate no heat, no a/c, no radio, no sound deadening, and a stiff suspension. Here's a copy of the classifieds listing here:

-black/black, 5 spd. (non-LSD), 131K miles
-full engine rebuild at 126K miles with new belts, bearings, gaskets, seals, rollers, water pump, sensors, clutch, pressure plate, cooling hoses, and injectors. The engine maintains 4 bar oil pressure at 3K rpm, and engine temp has never passed halfway despite 5 track events on the rebuild. No fluid leaks.
-A/C delete bracket and heater system plugged
-external oil cooler from an S2
-catalytic convertor removed and straight pipe welded in place. edelbrock muffler (sounds more aggressive than stock)
-weltmeister chip and stock chip.
-track-ready suspension with koni yellows front, 350lb springs and adjustable ride height; QA1 rear coilovers with 275lb springs plus torsion bars; 27/19mm sways; 16x7 and 16x8 D90 wheels; 968 castor blocks, rebuilt ball joints; monoball upper front strut mounts
-autopower bolt-in rollbar with harness eyelet mounting blocks in floorboard
-stainless steel brake lines with KFP front pads and new rotors
-brake ducts installed in foglight holes
-MOMO steering wheel
-manual sunroof
-two sparco seats can be included for additional cost.

Exterior cosmetics is 5-6 of 10; front end needs a repaint
Interior cosmetics is 6 of 10;

It needs another power steering rack. I have a manual rack and intermediate shaft (but no tie rods) that can be included at additional cost.

The car needs some additional mods to make it legal for PCA stock racing, or can be a good beginners car for HPDE. Located in Oklahoma. Asking $6500 OBO. Email me at jmitro2000@yahoo.com for more info or pics.

That's a good price on track ready car, i bet with that weight reduction it's just as fast as a stock S2. Suspension and engine alone are worth big $$$ Good luck!

thanks for the kind words. it is probably not as fast as an S2, but does feel more responsive and sharper than a stock S. it's a fun car to drive, i'm just ready to move on.

I have already sold my first M3 - it was just too nice to tear into and put rollbar and harnesses into. the second one is also nice, but i just don't feel as bad about tearing into it.

age old question from the bimmer forums:

how do you like the 3.0 compared to your old 3.2? any really noticable differences?

regarding your car...i wish this had come around about a year from now...right now I'm looking fervently for a nice affordable 951, but I planned on starting to look for a solid 944S to turn into a dedicated track car as soon as I find the right turbo

good luck with the sale

Did you powder coat your intake manifold? Your engine bay looks great. I wish mine looked as nice. Good luck.

hm, that's a good question. my 3.2 was stock and gave quite a bit of grunt at low rpms, enough to give a nice shove in the back. it also revved up high pretty nicely. the 3.0 supposedly has a chip and intake and that's it. it has just a LITTLE bit less low rpm grunt, but once it revs up it feels pretty much the same, even maybe just a tad bit faster. overall i would say the experience is fairly similar.

thanks. yes, i had it powder coated silver. that was before i tried to clean it with engine cleaner, now it looks kind of sloppy. i also took out the cruise control and the upper strut mounts are now the KLA monoball units.

Joseph,
I know that you have a lot of blood, sweat & tears in that car, hopefully you'll still lurk around here in the forums, "S" owners are becomming fewer and fewer and your knowledge will be missed here.
Good luck with your new project.

That's a great car. I'm certain it is a blast to drive and feels much more responsive than a standard "S" due to the lightened condition and the improved suspension.

I know you have been wrestling with this decision for awhile, Joseph. Best of luck to you on your sale, I hope you get every penny you want for it.

Hey Joseph,

Like everyone else, I hope you find the time to keep dropping by. You have been a BIG help to me.

It's a good car, and best wishes for finding a deserving buyer. And hey, apparently once you've had one of these cars, you get sucked back eventually! (Anyway, M3s are a great substitute too!)

Following your progress with your '95 will be very interesting, so please keep us updated when you have the chance.

Are you still on the lookout for a truck/trailer combo to haul the race car around?

Take care.

well, what I mean is one that is in decent condition (no major mechanical issues), but still isn't a $17K 40K mile garage queen
