Brand New S2
Hi
Well, nearly! I just had the pleasure of inspecting the lowest mileage, best condition 944 I've ever seen. This vehicle was purchased new in 1989, and driven for a couple of thousand km, before the original owner passed away. It then sat in storage for 10years until the second owner bought it and did about 2,000km/year fro the next 5 years, which brings us to the present time (12,900km / 8,000miles). The third owner has just bought it and asked my opinion on its condition - It is absolutely as new, still has the original tyres with min tread wear (yes I know they should be suspect, but the short drive I had felt OK, and they have been in use for the last 5 years - but a drive in the wet will probably show up any shortcomings). Despite the low mileage, it has been serviced every 12 months for the last 5 years and the belts changed at 10,000km. The tyre pump is still in its original plastic bag, along with a set of spare bits and pieces (see pic following). Now, you'll all want to know "How much" for this unique S2. Not cheap in absolute 944 terms, especially in the US market, but not out of the question in Australia where this one lives. AUD$37,500 (USD$26,000 approx). Has full leather interior (still smells new) and LSD options. Just thought you'd like to hear about it.

are the gears backwards and pedals backwards if you are on the right side of the car.
i would think first gear should be closest to you and upper right.

The gearboxes over in England/Japan/Australia have gears in the same places as ours, the pedals are in the same place, only the steering wheel is moved to the opposite side, so first gear is farthest away from you..
Would be really tough if you had to gas with your left foot and clutch with your right!!

Two quick things I noted:
1. The hatch light is in the proper place -that's where it is on mine.
2. No airbags - my US spec 1989 944S2 has dual airbags. Funny to see a 944S2 without the airbag steering wheel. (Nevermind the fact that it's on the right side!)
