BTDT........and still, at times!
"easy wiring" ?.........I doubt it. Every situation is different.
The best way to approach it in my opinion is to just make a logical plan as to how your gonna attack it. Make a list of whats not operating properly, electrically, first thing.
A lot of stuff is relatively easy to spot as you go, as far as problem existing wiring, fuses, burned fuse boxes, relays and such. Clark's garage is a good source also, if ya haven't already seen it for this type of stuff. Grounds! All ground points AS you go. Clean and fix em. Terminals, pins, sockets, connectors.........the same thing...make 'em clean, and tight again.
I don't know the year of your car, but I think the "earlier" style cars are the crappiest wiring mess to work with, due to what and where that fuse box is at.
The '85/1 project car I have, is a example of what PO's can do to a car. Bypassed circuts, wiring removed, VAMPIRE CONNECTORS! (god, I hate those!), wiring added to circumvent an existing problem......ect. I simpathize. You'll get it though, just keep after it.

If you cant read a schematic, learn to follow wiring color codes and how to test continuity in a circuit.
a cheap Multi meter can be had for around 15$. make sure it can measure resistance (Ohms)
Best of luck!!
