New Brake issues
Hello All,
Last weekend, I did my own brake job. It seems like it was easier on my S2 than my Civic. When something is easy, usually something is forgotten in my case. This might be the reason, my brakes are squeaking like crazy under light braking. Under hard braking, they're fine. Is something wrong? I used Zimmerman cross-drilled rotors and Pagid S pads. The only thing that I questioned was the circled disc part with prongs that were attached to the original pads. I removed these and put them on the new pads with silicon. Should I of done this? Also, one of the wheels seems to be grabbing after the brake is released. I've only put about 75 miles on the new brakes. Will they work out with time?
Thanks a million.
Lee

Hmm... I usually took the little discs with prong baskets and just pressed them back into the pistons, then slid in the pads. Could be getting wedged in there (draggin issue?).
The Pagid S pads may be squeaky ones. If they are at all like the KFP Magnums and the Pagid Black pads I've used on my 968, they will squeal like pigs at low speeds, particularly under light braking.
I would pay attention to the potential dragging issue, but otherwise just drive them for a while to break them in before worrying about the squeak.

Padgid S.. The "S" stands for squeaky. I have the Padgid's on the rear and they have always squealed a bit. Stop like a **** tho..

Well, I know how to pick em. I'm going to look at the brake that's sticking over the weekend. On the Round things, I inserted them back into the caliber then put silicon on the back of them plus silicon on the back of the pad in thinking this would cut down on the squeal if any. I'm getting more looks than I want. I'll give them a few hundred miles. If not, I will replace them with ???. I've seen so many opinions on pads in doing searches. I really didn't know what to get. They do stop quite well though.
Thanks, Lee

my rear brakes started squeeling, and i replaced them with metal masters (have them and the front and was happy with them) mine squeeks a little at low speed braking too, but only sometimes, i just deal with it, if anyone says anything i say its because they are performance brake pads

I had PF97's. They squealed like a bastard, but stopped great when hot. Now I'm saving my 97's for the track ,and running $30 per axle Beck Anrley's from Advance on the street. Silent, and no dust.
