I'm looking for an n/a 944 for DE purposes. I have no trailer and will probably drive it a bit for commuting, so as to keep everything lubed up, thus a pure track car isn't for me.
I have been looking for a couple of weeks and have seen the prices all over the map, usually excessive. I don't keep up with the Porsche Market Letter or Exxcellence, so I don't know what the current prices of these things should be.
Assuming all maintenance was done, what is a realistic price for n/a 944s? What should be the price differential for a newer (85.5+) car vs. the first edition cars?
Thanks!

You should be able to find a good one in the $4-6000.00 range. That means no wrecks, clean car fax, belts recently serviced, and no major service required. For a DE car I would try to find out what type of clutch is in it, and how old it is. Personally I would want a spring centerd clutch for DE events, as opposed to the rubber centerd one, for piece of mind.

I would guess that for early n/a you con find decent ones for $3,500-5,000. For a DE car you might look for an early one, they are supposed to be lighter and the control arms are $30/ea vs $300-400 for later ones! The disadvantage to the early ones is that you have to search high and low for suspension set ups. All of the stuff the online shops carry seem only to be for the late models. But I'm told it can be done.
