If you get a wire wheel from pep boys/autozone they make a beefy one for blasting off rust, this is the one I recommend. Wear a paper-mask and glasses/goggles as I had a lot of dust go everywhere when removing rust with the wire wheel.

Robert, good advise. Certainly wear eye protection and I recommend long sleeves. Those little wire bits like to fly off and they hurt like hell.

how about high pressure steam - doesn't that take out anything but chrome?

If I were serious about it, I would find an acid bath. That's really the only way to get all the nasties off and start with a new shell. Problem is, I'm just not that into it

Local guy purchased a 968 shell that had been dipped - man, it's nice to start out from scratch.

Looks great, George - keep us up to date!

Ah the things one could do with an acid bath...remove undercoating, clean parts, dispose of unwanted guests... Skip I saw someone using an avatar much like yours on the coloradoK5.com truck forums! Let me locate it...

You know, I seriously considered dipping it. Apparently there is a great deal of sound deadening between panels that cannot be removed any other way. Unfortunately my budget isn't what it used to be (having been unemployed most of last year). So, it was scrapped. I'd sell my body to fund it, but I'd have to pay women to take it, so that wouldn't work.

I'll keep doing updates as critical junctions are hit (like when I fianlly get the interior 100% bare and when the chassis is ready to paint).

Yup, often imitated but never emancipated. The Emu is in you - let my people go!

Kinda rude when you think about it - you'd think they could at least ask before using my portrait.

Many a time I have thought of changing my avatar to the Superfly (Joe Cartoon) - if you haven't seen these shorts, you really should.
