Default 951 Intercooler info needed

I'm looking to install an IC to my supercharger setup. I need info on the 951 IC dimensions including the inlet/outlet diameters.

The inlet/outlet dia. is what I'm really after. I hope it's at least 2.5".

Why would you want to mess around with a 951 intercooler? Just get one built/sized for your application. You wont be able to mount it in the "stock" location on a 928 anyway.

I only have room for a small to medium sized IC. Also it's alot less expensive to use OEM parts, and they tend to be more durable than aftermarket.

I built my entire system for under $1000 (this includes the SC head unit too). I'm not going to spend alot of money for a custom IC when an udes OEM will do the job. I take pride in the fact that my "budget" setup can do the same as the high $$$$ ones can! I ran the 12.8sec on stock sized, half worn tires (225x50x16).

The shape of the 951 IC is what I'm looking for in and IC as long as the inlet/outlet is large enough.

If you want a small IC look at a VW part. Look at the "For Sale" section at VWVortex.com People that go with aftermarket coolers give away the stock coolers.

I think that they are about 8x8x2 or so. Never really looked into it but I see them all the time.

Good luck!

Max length including mounting ears is 2 feet
Height is 5.5"
Width is 5.5" or 10" including the ports
Each port has an ID of a tad over 2"

Heres some pics. Let me know if you want hi res ones.

I've already did research on other OEM ICs. The problem is that almost all are under 2.5" inlet/outlets.

Thanks for the pics and the info. It looks like the 951 inlet/outlets are too small. I need at least 2.5".

They are 2" if memory serves. You are better off buying a small core and have tanks welded on.

That's not a bad idea. I was contemplating to do that or just buy one of the less expensive aftermarket ICs with 2.5" inlet/outlet from e-bay.

Thanks for all the help guys!

Cores can be had cheap and you are going to have the same welding charges unless you find EXACTLY what you need, which is not likely. I have contacts to buy cores, just let me know.

core face area is better than thickness. The ambient air becomes heated as it travels through the cooler. Don't forget ducting as well, it makes a difference.

Well, the design of the 951 cooler makes it better suited for operation at around 150. The thicker the core, the more suited it is for higher speeds.
If you have a US car, you should probably go with more surface area.
