Sometimes the wiring harness may become unplugged out of the socket in the back. This can be because it had been previously tampered with by someone that didnt' release the tabs correctly and broke them. Pull your cluster and have a look back there.

This winter, my speedo sender started squealing when it was cold. I pulled the sender and lubed the input shaft bronze bushing. At the same time I cleaned and lubed the connecter with silicone dielectric grease.

The noise went away but my speedo acted possessed. It would work right away then quit. I think the lube would work up the shaft and kill the signal. I bought a new sender but, by the time it got here, the extra lube must have drained out. It works fine now.

Funny thing, my cruise doesn't work either- I wonder if the old sender is good enough to work the speedo but not the cruise? Maybe I'll install the new one and see if it helps.

Regards,
Bill
