86 951 Swaybar bushings...how do yu figure out the size??!!
Hey Folks,
I am kind of in a quandry as to the correct size bushing to use on my front swaybar ends. The part number is 951-343-793, but these show up as bushings ranging in size from 20mm to 25.5 mm. The swaybar itself is about 17mm. Any idea of what the heck to use?
Thanks in advance!!!!

What year? Is it stock? What's the diameter of the bar away from the ends? It's the middle diameter that is used to describe the bar. The ends are smaller than the rest of the bar. Several sizes of bar have the same end size and use the same bushings there.
Up through and including 24mm bars use the 951 343 793 00
The 25.5mm bar and larger use 951 343 793 30

Hey Glen,
Thanks for the reply. It is a 1986 Turbo and looks to be a stock swaybar. The end of the swaybar definitely has a 17mm diameter. The bushing that is rotted out has that part number (951 343 793 00) Do you know if that part number comes in different inner diameter sizes? (It must because AutoAtlanta and Paragon show a range for the busines sizes....) Looks like yet another "research project". I will post the findings...

Tom,
Each part number identifies one single part. For minor differences, like size or left/right or upgrades, they'll use the last pair of digits or the last triple.
The end of the rod isn't an identifying feature. Check the diameter in the fat section between the ends to find out what you have. The sway bars are necked down at the ends.
In any case, if the old one says 951 343 793 00 your search is over.

Thanks for the clarification, Glen! I am not quite up to speed yet on the part number format. That is indeed the number. I just did not know if there would be a few extra digits appended to the end if there was variability in size. I will add it to the re-build list.
Regards!
