Wow. Thanks. OK guys. If I want to rebuild my engine over the winter, what sources can I start reading now to see what I must do? Any good books, sites, etc . . . ? Thanks.

TD;

I have 3 spare 944 motors lying around...23k, 49k and 111k miles. If you need one, I'll give you a damn good price. I'm 2 hours from DC.

Rip it;
Sorry, I have a box of new 944 rod bearing (currently propping up this laptop) and no holes in 'em.

ok, its been awhile since I have had to be inside an engine looking at ruined rod bearings. That's why I said "correct me" and I do appreciate being corrected, trying to print oil flow print right now. I guess splashing the oil lubes the turbo charged engines, apparently that's why you don't want to over fill them=too much splashing. Anyway keep me straight I think the holes in the rod bearing is wrong, but think the point that spinning a bearing causes lack of lubrication, oilflow into the piston rod etc. I don't think oil splashing is correct, as a matter of fact I don't think u want any splashing, but I may be wrong these engines keep fooling me.

I have a few leads on motors, and I am about to make my decision. If you have a 2.5L 8v for sale (preferably somewhere on the east coast), let me know now. Speak now or forever hold your peace . . .

Second, I will be rebuilding my current motor over the winter. Does anyone have a parts list/recommendations of parts I should order now in order to get a head start? Do any shops sell high-quality rebuild "kits" with all the necesary parts?

Thanks,

TD
