Default Any experience with Borla Pro XS muffler?

If I am correct, my stock exhaust system is 2.25" diameter on my 1988 944 na and if I just want to replace my stock muffler, should I go with a Borla Pro XS muffler? I don't have my car in front of me right now but can anyone tell me what offsets I need? Is it a 2.25" offset and 2.25" center?

Has anyone tried the Borla Pro XS muffler? Any comments?

Stock muffler is center in center out. Stock tubing is 2.25" but I would get the 2.5" muffler to have some material to work with.

It's hard to recommend a muffler - what are you looking for?

I have the speedforce racing system. It's a 2.5" with a Borla XR-1 muffler on it. Sounds mean as hell.

I am looking for something that is not loud in the cabin but will be lighter than the stock muffler to save a little weight and have a little more free flow so my engine breathes better. I will probably cut off the stock tip and have that welded back onto the aftermarket muffler. I don't want to spend over $100 for a good aftermarket muffler. My choices are Borla, Hooker Aero-chamber or Dynomax Ultra-flo.

get a flowmaster with those delta chambers. make it sound like magic stick makes cams for 944's. who the hell puts restrictions in the exhaust system??

Maybe a flowmaster 60 series will do the job. It's fairly quiet, but louder than stock.

The quiter it is, the heavier the muffler is going to be. Nevertheless, I doubt any aftermarket one will weight as much as the stocker.

I have a feeling the Borla muffler will be to loud for your taste, it you want low cabin noise. That Borla (the XR-1) is a straight through muffler, so all of the sound is going to come out for the most part. I agree with Serge944, about the Flowmaster muffler. I havent heard one on a 944 befor, but it will definatly give you a little power, and more agressive tone, but because its mild steel (I think, or aluminized steel, something like that) its not going to be that much lighter then stock.

Matt

EDIT:
I re-read your post, and you are looking into the XS muffler, not the XR-1. So that Borla may or may not be too loud. Either way I dont think you can go wrong with that or the Flowmaster, but I dont know how much weight you can save just by replacing the muffler.

Edit- i know it works well with the restrictions, and they're mostly for sound, i'm just being an ***.

I've got a Borla of some kind on the S2, and I think it sounds rather soft. I'm dying to hear a Spintech on one of these cars.
