this car was sooo dirty, but she cleaned up very well!
I have yet to wash the exterior, just the engine and interior so far.

Couldn't stay away could you......haha

I suspect you could easily run an aftermarket tach....you know....the BIG one bolted to your dash...

Post some pics.

but you guys got leakdown numbers!?

so they did a compression check and it came back 170 across the board, is that good?
supposedly 50K on the engine

they said a/c can't be hooked up.
or the heat.
or the tach (but I've heard some people figured it out)

the more info on what I'm about to do is very much appreciated!

thanks,

170 is low.

My 126,000mi S2 has 205PSI on all 4 cylinders (Dead Cold). I have used a few diffrent gauges on it as well and they all read within 1-2psi of eachother. So 170 is low unless there gauge is off (might be since the numbers are all very similar)

your shop is a bunch of girly men. If they dont know how to look down a spark plug hole with a flash light, or feel with a piece of wire....

Find a braver shop that is willing to try stuff that isnt in the manual. The heat should be an easy fix, and the other stuff could be made to work.

Very nice find! Is the S2 tranny with/without LSD?

I think your first project should be to gut the interior and go super light-weight. And then, if you've already lost the AC, I'd go with the SFR supercharger kit.

For the tach, maybe make sure that the wirings are hooked up correctly to the DME? I don't know what the 924S wirings are like, but this may give you a hint: http://members.rennlist.com/tholyoak...swapwiring.pdf

well I bought the car.

how low is it?
the shop said that was normal!
(I'm f pissed!)
I'll take it to different shop too.

I think I will do a compression check myself here soon.

I would rip out the a/c and heat, maybe even the carpet etc
but the tach would be good to have.
I wouldn't even know where to begin though.

I don't think it has lsd because I layed down some serious tracks in 2nd

where's the best place to to get a cap and rotor?

I really want to fix up the suspension
any thoughts on the best setup?

Its very possible that the gauge they use is giving incorrect numbers. I think that seeing the same number across the board is usually a sign that everything is fine. I would take it to a diffrent shop and get there input as it never hurts to get a second opinion.

as it turns out 170 is NOT LOW.

I called every porsche shop in seattle and talked to the lead technician at the dealership
they all said the same thing 160-180 is fine.
