Default fuel pump problem

Fuel pump is not activating when cranking engine. Is this a relay fault, and if so where on the fuse box area will I find it. [ I have checked the pump itself and it is ok.]

Not sure if pump is activated by the DME relay, but the DME relay is a not an uncommon replacement part on these cars.

It's labeled on the chart in the fusebox, under the hood, driver's side near windshield. Just remove the clips and cover comes right off.

Swap out a known good one if you can to confirm diagnosis. Takes about 3 minutes.

It's most probably either the DME (fuel pump) relay, or the fuse. The fuse box location is different for the early (1982-1985) and late (1985.5-1991) model 944. To test your relay, take it out, then jumper the socket at terminals 30 (i think) and 87. This should make the fuel pump run even with the ignition off, so don't leave the jumper in there. Also, something that's happened to me about 498 times is, a fuse will LOOK ok but it will be broken, so replace it with a KNOWN GOOD one to be safe. HTH
