It finally happened, the belt went out!
I was diving my 83 944 in traffic last week, when the car sudenly felt sluggish, then stalled. When I tried to turn it on, the engine just wirled but no go. I had someone try to start it while I looked at the timing belt and realized it did not turn. I guess the belt got loose or broke. I am just praying the valves did not go. Tomorrow I am taking the car to the shop to take everything out to check it.
Does someone know of a store that has a belt/tensioner etc. kit to change all the nessesary timebelt parts?
While I have the engine open, Is there something else I might as well do in there?

I am hoping it did not bend anything because of the way it failed. It started sluggish then stalled. I was going about 10mph. No bang, no jerking. It just stalled.

oh it bent something, it just didnt bang because your tach wasnt wrapped up near 5 grand. no belt to make sure the cam and crank are turning in sync, 8 valves and 4 pistons... odds are not good. like 3,000,000:1
if that
if that

You'd think changing a belt every 30-40K miles and tensioning it every now and then would be a bit easier than just driving around until you have a $3000 repair bill.
