Default A/C question

This is my problem. I purchased a used compressor last year which i installed. It worked great for a year. Now my problem is that when i turn on the a/c the compressor kicks on but not blowing cold. So i added a can of 134A which was in the system from the start and its started to blow cold again until i shut of the car and restarted it an hour or so later. The compressor still kicks on when i press the a/c button. What do you think is the problem?

Thanks,
Evan

Sounds like a major leak,do you hear any quiet hissing?

no noise. Do you think it can be the compressor?

compressor, fittings/connections, lines in any of the system could be leaking.

You cannot trouble shoot the A/C system this way. You need to put a set of gages on the system and find out what the suction adn discharge pressures are.

Another option is to add a can of R-134 with UV(UltraViolet) dye and use a black light to check for leaks.

Biggest hint of all: If you don't know what to do, get professional help. It's REAL easy to screw up, and can be REAL expensive to fix.
