Default Windshield washer sprayer

My driver's side sprayer on the hood isn't spraying anymore. It kind of dribbles a bit when I go for the spray. The other side sprays fine.

I guess something is obstructing the washer fluid... so how do I disassemble the sprayer to find out what's clogging it up?

..Or maybe it's something further back in the tube or whatever.

You can pull the tube off from the back and check it, or just watch it while you spray. My nozzles were clogged too. So I took a sliver of metal and worked it in and out of the hole to clean it out. They work great now.

I cleaned mine out with a fine wire. You can similarly use a wire in the nozzle to "re-aim" it for more efficiency in your windshield cleaning regimen.

I also recommend blowing out the lines from the reservoir with compressed air to ensure they're appropriately "de-crudified". Mine work great now. . . Of course the windshield wiper blades are crap. . .

Related question: Anyone know how to re-aim HEADLIGHT washers? Mine are aimed way off.

Well, I cleaned it out with a thin wire with only minimal improvement. I tried disonnecting the tube but its firmly attached the the nozzle part. Can't seem to get it off.

In the meantime I re-aimed one of the passenger side nozzles over to the drivers side.

did you take apart the check valves under the hood ,they can be bypassed to see if the rest of the lines are clear. They are under the hood near the nozzel.Heck you can leave them out for good if you want.

Definately check the check valve. Both of mine failed within a few thousand miles or so of each other, so you might buy two if that's it (unlike me).

Connected with oetiker clamps to the tubing under the hood near the nozzels. Little barrels with barbed tubing connections. One is 'T' shaped, the other 'L'.

All they do is hold pressure / fluid all the way to the nozzles and prevent backflow. This gives a more rapid response when you engage the sprayers. They're easy & cheap enough to replace. I think mine cost all of five bucks from Pelican.

My windshield nozzels seemed to be clogged with lime from hard water or some other guck from the washer water, and I mean plugged as in no wire would do it. So I removed them and left them in a calcium remover overnight, worked well. This is the second time I've had to do this and I'm not amused.
Where is a place for new ones?
Mike
