Smile Goodbye 944

I sold my 944 over the weekend. The 944 was my first car and I really learned how to drive well with it. I used it in driving clinics and many autox's. I also did all the maintenance/repairs myself so I learned a lot working with this car. I have been driving the 944 daily for the last two years and I loved the car.

But since I just started college I needed something a little bit more practical. I got a '94 BMW 325i. It has 90k miles but has been meticulously maintained. The car has the m3 kit on it and m3 suspension. It is fully loaded and everything works like it is new. Performance upgrades include exhaust, cold air intake, and a chip. I did my first autox in it yesturday and I was extremely impressed by how stiff the car is.

The E36 chassis is near bulletproof. You made a good choice in car. Sorry to hear that you had to sell your 944. Hopefully your bad experiences with it don't make you consider avoiding ownership of another one. Stay on the board man. Since you're a DIY-er your knowledge and experience will be most useful among the Rennlist 944 community. Good luck to you and hope to see more posts from you soon!

I will post pics from the autox yesturday after they are developed tonight. I am very happy with how smooth the car is especially at high speeds and through corners. As far as owning another 944, I will definitely have one when I am older and can afford to spend the money on it and not have to rely on it everyday.

Nice looking E36. Should have got a 97 or 98 M3 Sedan, lots of fun for around 15k. I was considering a 968 or M3 sedan. Purchased a 968 instead, something about this series of cars that I can't let go. I have owned, early, late, S and turbo 944's. The 911 was fun, but was missing something? The boxster S, well a blast to drift around corners, and drive with the top down, and boy did the engine sound good with the Porsche SS Sport exhaust, but.....? So, here I am, a few days from my first 968 and can't wait.

Enjoy your car and school.

Oh yeah, I could out drive my 951 in my buddies M3 sedan on Autox.

I'm going to the local community college because I honestly have no idea what I want to do yet. The 325 is much nicer than I had expected. There is not one single thing in the car that doesn't work. Also, new clutch, transmmission, radiator, waterpump, cooling fans, brakes(pads and rotors). Plus the PO gave me all the original stock parts that he had replaced(air box, exhaust system, various suspension components). I love this bmw but I miss the 944 so much already

I bought my 944 between my sophomore and junior years in college, and now I'm a senior. The car definitely takes a lot of my time, so I understand why you sold it. Your replacement is killer! Have fun with it, and good luck in college. Like the Stig said, hope you keep hanging around here.

Tony, The autox I went to yesturday was at Ripken stadium. I didn't feel like driving all the way down to Rosecroft when my region had one the same day.
