I've always wondered why they did that...? A 6-sp is really supposed to give the best of both worlds- slightly shorter gearing w/a slightly taller top gear... Oh well... the 968 did have a stronger transaxle, &, custom gears are only $900-ea... let's see, 3 - 6 would be $3600...
Robby, the 968 transaxle in a 951 is amazing!! The gearing makes sure the car is always in boost. . . .

Ted- I have heard this, &, understand that from an acceleration perspective, that shorter gearing is faster- JME uses 968 trannys in their high-HP engines. But, remember, turbo's love load & like tall gears- I know of a guy from the list w/a JME turbo 968 engine in an '86 951 w/540HP- he says the gearing is way too short- I woiuld have to agree- I think the 951 gearing is abouit perfectly spaced for anything up to about 300HP, but, anything taller & I'd honestly want taller gearing- this for the street anyway- for the track, I'd want shorter, of course... Actually, I plan to get an S2 5th for my 951- gives ~180 @ 6400 w/stock RD tires... This would help crusing a little- mileage, etc... To each his own, though... I have heard that the 968 gears are weaker- is there any truth to this? I would think the benefit of the stronger tranny would outweigh slightly weaker actual gears, but, may be wrong here... Powerhaus always said bad things about the 968 tranny b/c of the gears....

As for colors, Porsche made quite a few really unique colors for the 968, as well as 911's, etc, during the early to mid 90's...

Ted, mo30's did not have sport seats as part of the package-or lsd, for that matter.

Damian- are you sure about the LSD? I thought it was offered w/M030's- ZF OR Torsen in 92 & then Torsen only from 93 on...? I knew LSD was an option for non-M030's, but...??? The Sport seats were not automatic w/M030... The Club Sport had some special seats though- not sure what they were called, but, I used to get 968 M030 confused w/the 968 CS sometimes, for some reason... I'm asssuming the CS always had LSD....?

Robby, the CS didn't get lsd as standard, nor did the mo30's. The CS's got the special seats (though you could get standard) and boy they are snug-I had a ride in the UK in a track mo30 CS (Riv Blue) with matching painted back CS seats.

I see... I know about the colors & seats- the colors were really unique for some of those- I actually like a lot of them, except for theh body-colored wheels... Anywaym CS w/out LSD seems kind of odd to me.... I believe you, but, it does seem odd...
