Sounds like a compression check would tell a lot...

Well it looks like I found the problem. I just did a spark test on the wires and cylinders 1 and 3 don't spark nearly as strong (cylinder 3 barely produced a spark at all) as 2-4. Also I got a nice zap from wire number 3. So it looks like its my spark plug wires. I'll also get a new rotor, and while I'm in there I'll try and extract what's left of the bolt in the cam gear and order a new one of those too. When it gets dark out tonight I'll crank the engine again to see if I can actually see the wires sparking.
