after removing or gutting your cat, does your car smell really bad. i cant really even drive my car anymore if i dont plan on taking a shower right after. because it makes me smell like exhaust and gas. my friends also dont like it to much. but they get over it as im sliding sideways through the turns by my house.
heres a pic.... just because... why not

You have an exhaust leak somewhere, there shouldn't be a difference in smell with or without a cat. Make sure you put the gaskets on and correctly, retighten everything and check the welds if any.

alright, i was supposed to mention that but i forgot. i did suspect an exhaust leak but i just wanted to make sure before i get under there that its not just the lack of cat making it smell.

no catalytic converter will smell like crap. mine does. but it shouldn't smell like that inside the car. you must have a leak somewhere allowing exhaust fumes in the car. so tomrc is partially correct.
