Not going to turn this into a war, but an LS1 not dependable? Jeez man, its been around for *years* and pretty much has the issues worked out. More engineering than those 340's or 360's for sure.

That's the car my 951 motor is from, lol. I helped a little on the V8 swap, it's definately shoe-horn. The custon shorty headers rub the frame rails with the SBC, I'm thinking anything in the Chrystler line would be too wide. I've heard of the GNX Grand National turbo V6 swaps in the 924S. Those aren't too terribly hard to get 5-600HP out of and 1000HP isn't unheard of. Leaving the question, what tranny will do it??? I'd have to say an adapted and flipped G-50 possibly?? Have fun man, I'm not really a swap kinda guy, atleast not of the pushrod variety.

No I just came up with a crazy idea last night while I was about to go to bed. I figured that if someone else has done that I was going to do it. Nothing against chevy but I like chrysler's more. I'm a Mopar kind of guy. Well maybe if I have the money in a couple of years the LT1 may make it in there. Thanks everyone for their thoughts.

"I've heard of the GNX Grand National turbo V6 swaps in the 924S."

Anyone who did that would have a truly awesome and almost untouchable machine.

"Those aren't too terribly hard to get 5-600HP out"

You can get 500hp out of a Buick 3.8SFI intercooled turbo V-6 almost by accident. That's straight bolt-on mods, with a stock turbo unit.

"of and 1000HP isn't unheard of."

Neither is 1500hp.

The Buick 3.8SFI Turbo is a legendary motor(for damned good reason), and because of it's compact size, it would be an ideal choice for any front engined water cooled Porsche.

A typical 'bolt-on' modded intercooled Buick Turbo six running at a typical 18psi would put you in the 550+HP high 10 second quarter mile range. As i said, you'd be all but untouchable. Top end would be almost limitless.

My full sized Buick T-Type Turbo ran a 12.40 with a mildly modded non-intercooled 3.8SFI running only 14psi of boost(about 450hp), and it's gotta weigh a full 600lbs or more than a 924 does.

Here's a pic of my old T-Type:

If i ever blow the V-8 in my 928 guess what's going in there.

Barring the Buick V-6, and given that you're a Mopar fan, you could always do a 2.5 Liter Turbo II motor swap. At appropriate boost levels i've seen the little Shelby Chargers run low 13 second runs at the local dragstrip back in the late 80s.

Renegade Hybrids is probably your best bet as far as information and advice. There is nothing wrong with modern chevy v8s.
