I bought a used set of Hazet sockets off of Ebay. Hazet and Heyco(German tools like our Mac and Snap-on)are used by many German car manufacturers but are very pricey(almost $35 each if purchased seperatley). There are many U.S. distributors but I don't know the names offhand. Maybe someone here or at the local porsche or VW club might have them to let you borrow. You can also do a search for Facom and Stahlwille tools.

I know I'm gonna have to do this job again (clutch is in the very near future...) so I'd like to replace the 12pts with something a little less likely to strip. What size bolt should I pick up?
Thanks
Mike
EDIT: Does cutting slots into the heads of the stipped bolts and using a flathead seem like a good way to get the stripped ones out?

The technical name for the cv bolts are triple square or 12 point internal. Cheesehead is a generic term used for torx , triple square, hex, or any other type bolt that has a smooth circular circumference.
I got a set of 4 triple square bits from Pep Boys for ~ $15. This set had all the correct sizes for the cv, pressure plate, and flywheel bolts.

Look for this. Many autoparts store carry this brand - I found it at Murray's (I don't think they're national though - just Michigan). There's a dealer locator on the web site, or you can order it directly from them.
