Default Recommended 944 places to order a rebuilt water pump with a low core charge

Anyone had good experience with some of the online catalogs on the internet when it comes to our cars? I'm looking for a good place with a reasonable core charge where I won't have to pay like 300 bucks (core included) for a rebuild water pump. Crap I mean I could get a brand new one for that amount

Any thoughts and/or recommendations out there? BTW, this will be my first time ever tackling a timing belt / water pump job along with 4 tensioners and idlers

I got my most recent one from Paragon. About 9 mos ago. Don't recall the price but it was reasonable. I tend to shop around and their price was the best I could find.

Thanks Scott. I'm looking at their site right now and am very impressed with their inexpensive prices!!!

My only question is, I have the updated waterpump, and my car has a block off plate on it. I see an NA waterpump where no block off is needed, can I use that pump? Would it be compatible with my updated rail guard and tensioner????

Stig, i also bought my pump from Paragon a few weeks ago. I opted for a new pump instead however.

I am pretty sure all the different types of pumps (whether it be for a tubro model, n/a, rebuilt or new) sold at Paragon are of the updated variety which use the smaller timing belt idler pulley and belt guard.

A tip for when you get the new pump on...i recommend using some Permatex Hylomar blue sealant on the gasket. I installed the WP with the gasket dry on my 944 and it leaked, took everything apart and put hylomar on both sides of the gasket before hand...no leaks now. Perhaps it had nothing to do with the sealant, but i was kicking myself in the *** for not using it in the first place.

Stig, I still have the pump that came off my '88 924S. Non-updated style, in very good condition, zero bearing slop and should have plenty of miles left on it. Needs to be cleaned up.
It's your free if it'll fit your car. Just pay shipping.

That reminds me, what do you guys do with old water pumps...throwing it out seems like a waste.

I've also used Vertex -- seemed like they have good prices with low core.

As for old water pumps, maybe you can sell it on eBay as a core?

Why not just send the old ones in for the core charge?

I replaced with a brand new pump...so there was no core charge. Could i just send in an old one to a company and get the core charge back?

No problem man.
The pump I got from them was a LASO, factory equipment.

I replaced mine with a rebuilt from Vertex about 4 years ago. I've had no problems with it and they were cheap.
