Where would you recomend getting belts from. I need new belts but i wanted good belts nuthing that i would have to like change in a shorter amount of time than usual. Like should i go to a Porsche dealer and get original belts. Are the Original any better than after market?

I have heard that the Continental Conti-Tech belt is a very good (And much cheaper) alternative to the OEM belt. I believe the OEM belt is actually made by Continental, or possibly Gates...im not to sure on that. Both are good replacements for the timing belt.

I just purchased all the belts needed for my car...bought everything from Paragon. Like i said above, i have a Conti-tech timing belt as well as the alternator and power steering belt. Not sure of the brand on the balance belt however.

Whether or not you want to goto the dealer is up to you, their prices may be higher or lower than the online vendors and you will likely need to have them special order it unless your dealer actually stocks 944 specific parts (unlike mine!). Hell what do they know...everytime i go there they call my car "Old school" and "Classic". If you would like to save about half the price on the timing belt however...i would just buy it online in that case.

Factory belts are Gates, and they're the only Porsche-approved belts, as I understand it.
