Default +1 Callaway car in the world

Well my newly acquired Callaway 944 is now officially running on it's own. All I had to do was put the reference sensors back, swap the DME with another one I had, clean the DME relay and it fired right up. I haven't had a chance to drive the car yet so I have no idea how it really is or if the turbo is any good but with the fully open exhaust that motor sure does sound nasty. I don't currently have any place to post pictures so if anyone has space and can post for me that would be great or else I will be happy to send them to anyone who wants to see it. Incidently I was looking through some other Callaway documentation and there is an article in Car in Driver from the fall of '84 which pictures a car that looks identical to the one I now own. Out o fthe 38 produced I doubt that any 2 look alike so I'm pretty sure it's the same one from car and driver. Anyways I just thought I'd share my excitement.

Send a letter to Car and Driver asking if they can verify it. Perhaps they can do a '20 year later followup' on it.

That's a great idea but I think it'd have to wait a while since I'd be ashamed to show the car in it's current shape.

Good to hear man! I'll soon be putting mine under the knife as well. Actually there's an original one a guy out in Hemet has that I'll go check out probably this weekend. Might even buy it but I think his price is too high. Good job, can't wait to discuss further with you. . .

Campeck- 5th injector to keep from leaning out under boost.

Clint- This is the first set of these I've seen as well. They are 2 piece Ronal wheels and that is about all I know about them. Not really sure if I like them or not but I guess I'll figure that out once I get it all done and get ready to drive the car.

Campeck can you explain your reasoning behind why you think the intake carrying fuel and air mix causes knock? I'm not really trying to defend the way Callaway compensated for fuel because with todays technology that is just a half *** way of doing it but back in the day it was pretty damn good.

oh. i know. thats exactly what i meant!

what it might do is get more gas to one cylinder that some of the others. so another cylinder might run less rich that the others. like. it the weight of the gas might all go back to cylinder 4 and leave cylinder one with a lean mixture at boost.

they said in the article knock was a problem and thats why they cut the compression down. it could have been a contributing factor i guess.

still an effin cool car though

That car is quite a score. Very cool.

And wow, Ronal wheels that actually look great!
