since the other thread was closed befor ei could answer your "is the head the limiting factor" question.
Im with you. I think it is. there is a guy at moterworkz. (i never spell it right).
hes a rennlister but has not been around lately.
he has an 8V na that he consulted with a designer of the engine. redid the head. reworked the exhaust. and geuss what? that car makes 180 RWHP!
pretty impressive if you ask me. it seems the head IS the limiting factor.

As stated before, the dyno base runs and the Open House presented by Motor Werks Racing were meant to be a fun gathering for Porsche enthusiast. As far as the head and exhaust work on the N/A 944 absolutely other mods were performed. Although- stock rods and pistons were utilized as well as compression ratios. This is an ongoing project and not unlike other accredited engine builders, certain proprietary information will be protected. After all, absolute peak power is less important then the overall power under the line. We appreciate your input and welcome any questions you may have concerning our Open House or any of the vehicles that appear on this post.
Thank you

Hmm nothing I could see from top other than stock AFM.
Well not sure what he did to the head. 180 rwhp is alot.. At what RPM was that?
how much for their head work & exhaust?
Is it SCCA ITS legal (ie port matching within the first 1") my guess would be no.

If Jon Milledge is (supposedly) able to get 185bhp, which is what, like 158 at the wheels, from a completely legal SCCA ITS motor is it unreasonable to believe somebody could get 180 at the wheels with well planned mods? Especially with that black engine paint

For every gain there is a loss. The high duration camshaft required to get those #s will drastically lower the low end power. This can make a car worthless on the street.

yes. but think about it.
a honda has 1.8-1.9 liters. and makes almost what our cars put out when tuned properly. and they are streetable.
lets say this guy broke the head barrier. and figured out the design that works best ith the flow characteristics of the 944. remeber, he talked with one of the guys who developed the engine about this!
would it be that unreasonable to say that that car is streetable? the only reason i see why it wouldn't be is that that suspention would rattle your bains out!
dyno charts. its a reputable porsche shop...come on. and if you really need them. call.
