Default 968 rear end

I am looking to lower the gearing in my car. I originally wanted to chage 1-5 and leave 6 alone as and o/d. I'm thinking it might be a lot easier and cheaper to swap the pinion. I'm not sure where to look to have this made. I want to go to a 4.10 gear from the stock 3.778. I think this will have to be a custom job, so any ideas or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mickey

Powerhaus II (not Powerhaus) makes gears. Bring an investment banker, they aint cheap.

I want to get better acceleration, and don't MIND giving up top end. I was thinking earlier afte,r talking with my dad who would be doing the work, that it is probably going to be easier and cheaper to actually just swap the gears in the tranny. Are the G50-6 gears the same as the G50-5 gears. I'm sure there are plenty of gear sets for the G50-5, it would be nice if they would work in my car. I was afraid somebody would say go to powerhaus or phII.

The 968 gearing is pretty close, relatively speaking. You'll notice that 6th gear is set for max top speed (156 I believe) in the peak of the power curve. That leaves 1-5 pretty logically spaced by some pretty smart Porche engineers.

If it's a drag-racer you want, keep in mind that Porsche's will start to spit parts with drop-clutch stoplignt starts. They just aren't designed for it. Rather, great cars AT speed.

My 2 cents.
