I ahd twoo fuel rails with micro cracks show up after removing them form the car and reinstalling; one at the cup and one at the brazed end closure. Go figure huh?

Update, the leak followed the injector, and leaked in the exact same manner. I called WitchHunter (Gordon), who said that nearly 20% of the 951 injectors he gets have small cracks in them, his theory is due to the heat of our engines. Anyway, I sent it back in, along with another old one that I had, he offered to try to make another good injector if he could, at no extra charge. As an aside to this thread's main topic, Gordon is a great guy, highly recomended. I don't blame him for the problem, because this is a VERY small leak, he said he inspects for leaks but sometimes misses them. Nice that he stands behind his work as well.

S injectors are different. They are about $140.00.

My recollection is that NA and S injectors are the same but use a different FPR.
Likewise S2 and Turbo.

Hmmm, you are right. According to that catalog, the S, S2 and Turbo all use the same injector.

Ok, so I got my suspect injector out; I'm going to try swapping it from #4 to #2, to try and isolate this possible leak further . The numbers on the side are:

0280 150 811

Green plastic uppers, painted lowers. I've got new yellowish caps and seals on all four. The fuel seems to bubble up around the base of #4... not like a geyser, but enough to smell in the car and see some dampness after it's run for a bit. I don't see any hairline cracks on it, so I'm kind of stumped. Anyone got further suggestions? (BTW, thanks Charlotte944, but it doesn't look like yours will swap even with these)

Stupid question but did you clean out the injector well on the manifold? Sometimes there's crud in there or a piece of the old o-ring mucking up the seal..

Steve-

I think I got it squared away. I had indeed cleaned around the seating area in the manifold, but as I got to looking at the O-ring on #4, I found a tiny crack in the rubber seal going right up the side and to the top. I yanked that one off of there toot suite, put another brand new one on, reinstalled the injectors and fuel rail, and let it run for 15 minutes... no signs of leakage so far. I did swap the #4 to #2 as well, so it'll be easier to monitor at a glance- but I've got a feeling that might've nailed it.

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions, everyone-

Lynn
