Wilk's chip (maybe 5 hp) Best you'll get -about $205. any other "claims" are BS. PS- Drop the platinum and iridium, and stick to the Bosch copper plugs gapped @ .028". Your pistons will thank you.

FRWilks chip is probably the best you can get. The gains in hp/torque are not huge, but the feel of the car is changed completley (in a good way). Its tough to explain, but you will imiediatley notice a difference when driving a car with the FRWilk chip. If you search the Pelican forums, you will find all the praise for his chip.

This is his website...

Edit - I see he has a new product coming out. Looks like a cheaper alternative to a MAF type setup. Looks interesting, lets hope hes able to harness some nice power gains, or atleast make the 8-valve 944's even more fun to drive!

The thing with the wilk chip isn't HP gain, but an alteration of the powerband. You know the kick you get after 4300 rpm - you get that kind of power at much lower RPM with Wilk's chip. This is quite useful for street driving/autox but worthless at the track.

yeah. serge is correct. on the dyno i got 1 hp and 1 tq from his chip.
and even with the small gains, it is simply is the best chip out there.

anything that alterers the way airflow goes into the cylinder head is goin gto need different fuel maps. so the frwilk chip wont be the BEST chip for a better cam. youd need to dyno with a wideband and have a chip burned.

I bought and installed an el cheapo ebay chip recently. Why you ask? Because spending $200 for a 1hp gain is beyond rediculous. That said, I like the $20 chip. I'll coin a word overused in just about every "super tuner" mag out there and say the power is much more "linear." The car also idles smoother. For the money and the time it took to install, I'm pretty happy with it and I like the way the car feels now. 86 N/A btw.

Where did you get that golden nugget of information? I'm curious to see the back-up to support such a statement. FYI, I passed e-check with flying colors with the autothority chip in my 944.

oh and this
I've heard people say that but I've never seen anyone back it up with any evidence. If you know of a post or a site out there where someone actually analyzes exactly what different chips do, I'd love to see it.

Fuel mileage is the same, no smoke.

holy crap.....

ok. i will mend my ways and accept defeat. i am incorrect.

BUUUT! i will mention my friend bought a "chip" from ebay for his 200sx and his dad wouldn't let him install it cause it involved splicing wires. (dont ask) so we broke it open to see what it was...resistor. went between the air temp sensor and the dme.
