Default AC compressor engages, fan blows, but air is not cold?

AC compressor engages, fan blows, but air is not cold? I'm pretty sure the system is still pressurized (full). What would cause it to stop blowing cold air? Yesterday it was working great.

Thanks in advance.

check the window in the front drivers side corner to see if there are lots of bubbles in the refrigerant and carefully add more if alot of bubbles.

I just checked the glass, no bubbles. I just had it filled 3 months ago (converted to latest ozone friendly refrigerent), and until yesterday it worked great. I don't think I have a leak since there was no graduall loss of cooling. It just stopped working all at once.

I'm pretty sure it's near full because the low pressure switch is not causing the ac clutch not to enage. the clutch enages and the compressor is turning as long as the ac button is pushed in.

Is there some other interlock that would fail and possibly keep the air duct doors from letting the interior fan air from passing over the ac's cooling radiator?

thanks,

jon

The expansion valve could be bad.

Is it blowing hot? You probably just need that plastic clip uder the dash, they always break. Check the archives for more info.

I would check what Peckster mentioned. There is a clip under the dash, it is likely broken, costs about 1.50 or so.

Thanks guys for your help, I went home last night and and checked those clips and lever arms. They are solidly connected. I then noticed the clutch wasn't engaging anymore. I jumpered the +12vdc from the battery directly to the compressor at its input connector, and it would run. I ran out of daylight, tonight I'll go back and see if the low pressure switch is preventing it from running.

I'm thinking when I saw it running yesterday (enough to make the low pressure switch but not cool very much), it might have been low, and it continued to leak out and now the low pressure swtich is holding it off.
