Default Removing Silicon

How do I do it? I had used silicon to hold my center caps in my wheels, but now I'd like to refinish them. I popped the center caps out of the wheels, but how do I get all the silicon off of them? Is there a chemical I can use, or do I just have to sit there scraping away at it bit by bit?

Silicone will dissolve in gasoline. It still takes a while. You'll need to work with it. Carb/choke cleaner also works. There is no magic chemical, that I know of. It's stubborn stuff.

The subject line reminds me of something a wise man once said in reference to silicone:

"A little is good - a lot is better - too much is just right".
May not be the same type of silicone you are referring to though...

Thanks Scott, I'll either get myself some gas in a tin where I can soak these things, or give up completely. One of the two .
