Default Operation Anorexia

Well guys I pulled a Callista Flockhart.....with the car today....

I guess this is one more step closer to a more accurate M637 clone. Enjoy the pictures. I will be writing a DIY on this rear seat removal and/or delete mod this week.

Cool. How's the road noise, and is the carpet a different color?

I put about 1/4" thick insulation and inch thick foam to build up where there is a dip for the seats. The road noise is minimal and I can't hear any transmission noise....just the muffler

If you pull all the rear carpet and sound deadening, you WILL hear the transmission whine! Ask me how I know.

Very clean Andy.

yup yup Serge! I installed new insulation and some foam underneath, yet still managed to keep this all under 10 lbs.

Thanks Serge, Trevor and Testarossa. Looking forward to doing the DIY thread. I wish I took pix during the construction. It was a fairly easy job, took about 5 hours though, but if I were to do it again I'd get it done in half the time.

Simple Porsche crest patch and a couple drops of upholstry glue that's permanent from what the lady in the fabric store said. They haven't even fallen off yet...I hope never. Strong stuff that glue is though

Nice work! I'd be happy with some nice front seats and seat belts like that.

Looking forward to a writeup.. make sure you do that!

Looks good.

I really don't think you need to write up a DIY on it, it's just a couple of bolts and tearing out the bottoms. But if you want to, have a go at it!

While you are on the anorexic kick back there, consider removing the hatch release motor, wiring, and switch. It probably doesn't work anymore properly anyway (most don't). If you need to do an interior release, you can purchase a t-handle and cable set up from a local autoparts retailer and do a manual set up with the t-handle located behind the drivers seat, ala the 968CS set-up.

There's lots of other little bits in the interior that are gone/removed in the 968CS and 951cup cars that you could emulate, like the lower door pockets, radio stuff, power mirror/lock/windows, etc. All of this would be enough to keep you occupied for awhile .

hey Tifosi I think the hatch ironically is the only electrical item next to the windows that works right still as far as creature comforts.

BTW, do you know if the CS 968s had power windows??? I'm getting some wicked ideas for weight loss here

According to Peter Morgan's book the CS had manual winders. Since you could order them with just about all of the "luxuries" back on, I would think many were sold with power windows.

Tifo,

Anymore info on the interior release setup? Or at least where I can find the setup?

Has anyone done this? Is there a write up somewhere? I'm very interested.
