The n/as are great cars. Quick, adequately so (not blisteringly fast like a boosted version, but adequate to excite), fantastic in the curves, etc.

At 1/3 to 1/2 the cost of a 951 and less than that in annual maintenance costs, I often wonder why I even got a 951. . . Then I go boost myself and it's all remembered. . .

'course I may end up trading it in for a 911. Something about the sound of a 3 liter air cooled flat-6. . . Question ultimately becomes, what's more addictive, that sound or the boost?

I really like a 944T at idle. Has a low purr. You cant hear it from the inside, but whenever Im outside and the car is idling I think it sounds pretty darn hot.

My 944 was really quick when I had that Jetta for my daily driver. However, now that it's been replaced with the Miata, the 944 seems to have slowed down a bit.

On the flip-side, the 944 also suddenly got more reliable!

The reason the 83 NA seems faster is due to less weight, less sound proofing and manual steering.

These things give the appearance of more speed.

Any 944 will probably gain 5-6 hp just from cleaning stuff and making sure everything is in tip top shape.

A boosted 911 (930) would be my wet dream, but way too expensive right now.

In time. . . She will be mine. . . Oh yes, she will be mine.

I will soon be able to say the same, the only difference in that my 924S3 will weigh less than 2450lbs

Is that a shot from an SCCA AutoX in your sig? If so, why are you running GS? Shouldn't your car be in ES?

Well Im hoping to attend an autox this weekend. My na vs the black pearl aka Zero10's 951. If I can't win in drag the corners might lead me to a victory.

Maybe the 83 944 is quicker because it's lighter. Mine does not have power seats, power sunroof, power rear hatch, I'm going to weigh this car soon on a truck scale, I'll post it's weight here for what it's worth, perhaps you guys with the later 944s and 951s can weight theirs too, 968s as well.
Mine seems pretty quick, although I'd like a 951, might get next year, they are so good looking.

Well, '83s are just better.

Seriously, I wouldn't mind an '85.5 interior. Later sport seats are nice, too. But I don't wish for the power sunroof or $400 A-arms.

I'm not one for power displays, but the 83 I had could leave a nice long patch of rubber on any pavement.
When is an '83 an '83? Bruce was built in Stuttgart in Nov '83 and purchased in Canberra in Aug '84? Does this mean I am promoting my beloved 944 as younger than what it really is?
Bugger!

Who cares! I love him anyway! And yes, they don't accelerate off the line for ****. But wait till you hit 3k in 3rd! WWWWHHHHHOOOOOOSSSSHHHHHH! Goodbye all the V8 crap! and the mazdas, toyotas, nissans and other imitators.
